What's your Idea?

Everything starts with an idea. Perhaps a Team Lead has their own original idea that they choose to register as a project. Maybe they surf the Ideas Forum and, inspired by what you have written, come up with a unique project that spurs them into action. Or perhaps they love the idea you have captured in its original form.

Before the Project comes the Idea. And before the Idea comes … you, writing the Idea.

STEP 1: State the desired outcome of your idea. Do you envisage:
1. a one-off event?
2. an ongoing service?

What do you want your service or event to generate? Money? Supplies? If so, what kind? Leave the 'Who' till the next step. Focus here on the end 'What'.

STEP 2: Name your proposed beneficiary.

If you're not attached to any particular beneficiary, just write 'Any worthy cause'.

STEP 3: Explain your idea.

For example: 'People offer to pick fruit from trees of locals who lack the time or ability to pick their fruit. The fruit is then sold in local Farmers' Markets in one or several ways (explain). The money is used to benefit X non-profit OR the fruit is distributed to local homeless people.'

STEP 4: Explain what you think might be required to make the idea work.

What talents are required?

STEP 5: Give your Idea a name.

It can be either A literal description of the outcome, e.g. 'Showers for Local Homeless' or A non-literal name that captures the idea's essence, e.g. 'Operation Water For All'

STEP 6: Enter your personal info.
